"I'm going to tell you guys a secret - I'm not allowed to tell anyone this," Alexander Johnson, lead singer of These Kids Wear Crowns, divulged to an intimate but energtic crowd at Nicky Zee's this past Monday.
The secret (which I'll only say involves the band getting to play a popular music festival) came when the band experienced some technical difficulties early into their set. Usually this can put a damper on a show (especially when the band is high energy), but These Kids used the opportunity to their full advantage. When the microphones stopped working mid-song, the band asked the crowd to take over vocals and they happily obliged. The band kept the crowd entertained while techs fixed the problem by sharing stories from their current cross-country tour (a tale about being screeched in while in Newfoundland may have been shared).
After the short delay, the band launched back into their set which included their original songs "Jumpstart", "Break It Up", and also covers of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" and Jay-Z's "Empire State Of Mind".
