We were happy to see our favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr in the winning spot at the Daytona 500 race this week. Many NASCAR fans in Nashville are celebrating, along with Dale Jr., as he brought in the title of Daytona 500 winner, after a decade since his last win there.
With memories of his daddy, Dale Earnhardt Sr. surely in the forefront of his mind, he fought a good fight in this NASCAR race to bring home the trophy and we here at this house are proud to hear the good news.
In the old days of Nashville sports and motorsports racing at the Nashville Motor Speedway, we often saw Dale Earnhardt Sr. come to Nashville and make his rounds on the old race track here. We are sure Dale Jr. probably made some trips here with his daddy, but we were probably all focused on the big man back then, and not paying much attention to the little man, his son.
With the recent changes in the rules by NASCAR, (see NASCAR Completely Revamps Championship Rules) we think this puts Dale Earnghardt Jr. in a very good spot to bring home the championship title for 2014 and we will be pulling for him.
