Bi Lines V: A Multi-Arts Celebration of Bisexual Writing was performed to an enthusiastic crowd last Sunday, June 3, at Nuyorican Poets Cafe in the East Village. Bisexual book authors from all over the country, Canada and even Germany came to participate. The house was packed, with every seat taken.

There was a diverse variety of readings, from Two Spirit Native American poetry; to a sci-fi story about a bisexual alien and the couple who are his earth lovers; to a graphic novel about queer angsty teens; to a story excerpt about a woman and her beautiful, Israeli, Nobel-winning novelist lover; to poetry about bisexuality, disability and doctoring, to mention a few. The readings were received enthusiastically with much applause from the audience.

At the Lambda Literary Awards, the following night, two of the authors on our program won awards: Jan Steckel won the Bisexual Nonfiction category for The Horizontal Poet and Barbara Browning won Bisexual Fiction for her creative novel, The Correspondence Artist.

The Bi Lines V program was rounded out by emotional music from Viva and Rorie Kelly that energized the crowd and an excerpt from the daring play, Confessions of a Homo Thug Porn Star with a dynamic performance from Johnathan Cedano in the role of Tiger Tyson.

The photos in this slideshow were taken by bisexual photographer Efrain Gonzalez whose work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of the City of New York.
