The People's Choice Awards were announced during a live broadcast hosted by Kaley Cuoco at the Nokia Theatre on Wednesday, January 9th on CBS.
The People’s Choice Awards is the only major awards show where fans determine the nominees and winners across categories of movies, music and television.
The Hunger Games was the night's big winner taking home five awards. Sandra Bullock received the first-ever award for "Favorite Humanitarian".
The show featured performances of mash up of "Girl on Fire" and "New Day" by Alicia Keys, "My Kinda Party" by Jason Aldean and "Blank Page" by Christina Aguilera.
In addition to performing, Christina Aguilera was presented with the 2013 "People
's Voice" Award. Waterford Crystal designed the custom trophy, which recognizes Aguilera’s outstanding achievements in the music industry, and celebrates her ability to reach millions of fans both at home and abroad, across pop, soul and R&B genres.
Aguilera was on hand to accept the awards and thanked her fans and gave a special shout out to Mark Burnett, who produced the awards and the tv show "The Voice" where Aguilera is a judge.
Music winners included Katy Perry who won four awards Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Music Video for "Part of Me" and Favorite Music Fan Following (KatyCats). Perry was on hand and thanked her fans. This bring her winners up to 12 People's Choice Awards total.
Maroon 5 won Favorite Band. The entire band lead by Adam Levine was on hand to receive the award.
The Wanted won for Breakout Artist award. The band saluted Ellen DeGeneres in their acceptance speech.
Taylor Swift won Favorite Country Artist and was also on hand to pick up her awards.
Other music winners who won but were not on hand at the ceremony included Rihanna for Favorite R&B Artist, Nicki Minaj for Favorite Hip Hop Artist, Jason Mraz for Favorite Male Artist, and One Direction who won two awards for Favorite Song and Favorite Album.
Other music related winners included The show 'The X Factor' which won Favorite Competition TV Show,
Demi Lovato for Favorite Celebrity Judge. Lea Michele and Chris Colfer won Best Comedic TV Actress and Best Comedic TV Actor for the tv show "Glee".
