Knitting Factory Concert House Reno 2012 year in review (Photos)

Well 2012 was another stellar year at The Knitting Factory Concert House in Reno. Really the only bad thing that happened at the KNIT this year was losing GM Gary Pike to the Boise KNIT, but the good thing it opened the door for Cisco Flores (the new GM) and he has done a fantastic job thus far.

Micheal Sinclair took over Flores' old duties as Manger.

The staff and security are "top notch", which makes for a very safe environment so a good time can be had by all. Most shows are "all ages".

For the 3rd year in a row The KNIT has won several awards in the Reno News & Review "Best of Reno". The categories include, Best Bartender-Cary Demars, Best Barback-Chris Fite, Best place to see a concert, Best place to hear loud music, Best place to see live music and Best concert venue.

As usual, many national bands have played this year at the KNIT. Big names like, Testament, GWAR, Y&T, Seether, Hellyeah, The Frank Hannon Band, Prima Donna, Adam Bones, Steel Panther, Saving Abel, Theory of a Deadman, Buckethead, Buckcherry, The Dead Kennedy's, Chevelle, The Misfits, Halestorm, In This Moment and Social Distortion just to name a few.

There were also lots of tribute bands that played. Bands like, No Quarter (Led Zeppelin tribute), Johnny Cash tribute, Cash'd Out and the best Pink Floyd tribute band around, Eclipse.

Many local bands have played shows too, Courtesy Call, Max Volume Band, Authmentis, Demension 13, Pain Clinic, Envirusment, Soul Lobotomy, Seasons of Insanity, Hell Pig, SoultorN, Seedless 10dency, Greg Golden Band, Sil Shoda, Scarlet Presence, Merkin, Rigorous Proff, Liver Scars, The Kanes, Otis and Apothesary. Just way to many to name.

As this examiner mostly covers rock and metal bands, the KNIT also puts on many Country music, DJ's and Rap shows. Just about all types of music can be seen at the KNIT, there's really something for everyone.

Once again, the KNIT had a few fundraising shows for local charities, more notably JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). The KNIT raised thousands of dollars for the Northern Nevada Branch featuring many of the local bands. To make a donation to JDRF, visit their web-site at www.jdrf.org/index.cfm?page_id=100566

The KNIT is also a popular stop for all the pub crawls that Reno has to offer.

This year the KNIT opened "The Top Shelf Lounge and Grille" upstairs. This is where you can show up early to a show and have dinner and drinks while in some cases watch the bands do their sound check. Another good reason to visit the top shelf, they let you in before everyone waiting in line, and most importantly, the food is great too.

This examiner can't say enough about the Knitting Factory Concert House in Reno, it truly ROCKS !!! Be sure to check out all the great things that will be coming in 2013. Good times will be had by all.

As with all this examiners reviews and feature stories, "The Photos Are What It's All About", so check out the photo slideshow and enjoy the show.
