Thursday’s afternoon practice drew the largest crowd for open-to-the public practices of the week.
Unfortunately for the largest crowd of the week, most of the semi-live drills were done on the field furthest from the stands that had some of the fans a bit disgruntled.
The field closer to the stands is getting a bit worn and looks it.
The players, except for the QBs, were not in pads for the practice. QBs only wore shoulder pads.
Newly acquired Josh McCown took snaps with Colin Kaepernick, Alex Smith and Jeremy Masoli.
Tyler Beiler, rookie from Bridgewater, dropped a couple of easy catches during passing drills that drew sighs from capacity crowd.
Andy Lee was impressive in punting drills, booming a few that were well over sixty yards.
Jim Harbaugh and staff kept the practice upbeat. Constant reminders about tempo from the coaches had the players all concentrating on playing with energy and staying in rhythm.
