President Obama was sworn in for a second-term on Jan. 20, 2013, and singer Beyonce performed the National Anthem. Immediately, social media networks fired up with some praising the performance while others offered criticism. Did you watch President Obama’s inaugural address live? It appears that Beyonce had some sort of audio difficulty with the song as she can be seen in the middle of the performance removing her earpiece. The beginning also seemed to have a strong echo and while the final part of the song was the strongest, some have voiced it doesn’t compare to Whitney Houston’s version.
Beyonce wasn’t the only celebrity singer to perform. Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor also sang during the memorable event.
While Beyonce’s rendition has sparked discussion, Kelly Clarkson’s rendition of “America” (“My Country ‘Tis of Thee”) is getting rave reviews.
