"American Idol" unveiled its top 12 during a controversial results show Thursday night, and now we finally have a chance to size up the competition.
Here are the singers battling out to be the next great superstar:
- Aaron Kelly: He's only 16, but outside of a terrible performance this week he's been consistently good.
- Andrew Garcia: If it wasn't for "Straight Up," Mr. Garcia would already be giving an exit interview.
- Casey James: He's a decent singer, but he also needs to buy a couple more shirts and mix it up a little.
- Crystal Bowersox: Crystal is the undisputed favorite at this point, but will America care?
- Didi Benami: What kind of singer does Didi want to be?
- Katie Stevens: She has a nice story, but is she a mature enough singer?
- Lacey Brown: You could ask Lacey the exact same question as Didi.
- Lee Dewyze: He may sound like David Cook, but Lee may be the one to beat out of the guys so far.
- Michael Lynche: The "teddy bear" has the potential to be the next Ruben Studdard -- here's to hoping he has better staying power.
- Paige Miles: I really have no idea why Paige is still here.
- Siobhan Magnus: Here we have the wild card of the competition. She could be gone next week, or she could win.
- Tim Urban: Tim was actually decent last week, but let's face it: our expectations were low.

I'm sorry, but Lee in NO WAY sounds like David Cook ... again, in NO. WAY. David Cook is by far and away both a superior vocalist and musician. A better comparison might be with last season's Mr. Gokey insofar as vocal tone and stylings.
I am so shocked that people everywhere are not noticing Siobhan. I think she absolutely should win this competition hands down. Her voice is absolutely beautiful. She walks out on stage with such poise and sophistication. She knows exactly who she is, yet the judges don't say this about her. Just blows me away. My favorite guy is Lee. I have to agree with Nadia, he is not a David Cook sound alike. Lee is inexperienced and can not hit the notes like David Cook. Come to think of it, I picked David Cook as the winner early on too, so maybe it's a good thing that Siobhan in a little in the background. David Cook was too.
A totally enjoy Crystal and Michael. I look forward each week to see what they come out with and its amazing. I think it will come down to them being the last 2.
I agree, Lee is nothing like David Cook. Cook can hit the high notes, low notes, and long notes. Lee can do none of above, is pitchy, and doesn't have much stage presence.
