With most mobile phones having cameras in them, it’s easy as ever to take photos at any time. Camera phones have changed the way we take pictures. Taking pictures is no longer just for special events. At any time you can take a photo, and send it on its way to share with family and friends.
HP (Hewlett-Packard Company) has a new app for smartphones. Although not all camera phones are smart phones, all smart phones are camera phones. The difference is, there are plentiful applications to making picture taking all the more fun. HP Live Photo is just one of the many apps offered to iPhone users. Although not available to other smart phones just yet, hopefully it’ll catch on, and it’ll be available to other smart phones. It is a very fun app to share with family and friends. You will be able to create photos that will launch videos. Sound confusing? Read on.
The way it works is, you take a video, yes a video, 45 seconds or shorter, and create a project with templates in the app, and it will scan the video looking for the frames that are the most clear to pick as the ‘cover’ picture for sharing. Once you’ve decided on the cover picture, the app processes it, and makes the picture with the chosen template for you to share. You can print the picture, (you’ll need a HP AirPrint printer) email the picture, or post it on Facebook. Yes, Facebook. You need to link it to Facebook. It’s worth it. If an AirPrint printer isn’t available, or you don’t care for Facebook, you can email the picture and it can be scanned, or printed, from the email screen. Still worth it. For free. Yes, free.
Once the recipient has received the picture, they scan it with the app, and it will launch the video. Amazing! A picture on a postcard, or whatever means you choose, will launch a video? Yes. It has to be the picture you made in the app, and it has to have the ‘HP Live Photo’ Logo on it.
Now, making a card to share with family and friends, invitations to parties, or any occasion will come to life with your video. Saying hello to friends and family, or inviting them can now include your video! Try it with the “Let’s Party!” picture used for this article. Open the app, select 'View' and scan the photo. You should hear the bottle pop, and fizz on home brewed hard apple cider.
