Chris Guerra, the freelance photographer who was killed on Tuesday night while attempting to take pictures of Justin Bieber's Ferrari, apparently called his agency less than an hour before he died, telling whoever he spoke to that he was onto a huge story. Guerra claimed he saw Justin Bieber smoking marijuana while driving.
However, as we know from a prior report, Bieber was not driving, nor was he even in the car.
According to a source connected with the photo agency Chris Guerra did freelance work -- he worked exclusively on Bieber stuff -- Guerra called at 5:16 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, and said "Man, you won't believe my luck. It's pretty dead in L.A. Everybody thinks Justin and Selena are in Mexico, but they're not."
Guerra said he saw Bieber's Ferrari earlier in the day at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills and added that he also saw Selena Gomez's car there. He then claimed to have seen Bieber earlier in the day, driving the car and smoking what Guerra believed was marijuana from a pipe.
Twenty minutes later, Guerra said the Ferrari was pulling out of the hotel parking lot and abruptly hung up so he could follow it.
Guerra, as reported earlier, was then hit by a car as he tried to take pictures of the Ferrari during a routine CHP traffic stop. The source said that he believes Guerra was "overzealous" during the traffic stop because he believed he was on the verge of what would -- if it had panned out -- been a huge scoop.
A representative for Bieber said, "It's really sad that people are trying to push a story without the facts so soon after this tragic accident. Justin was not present or involved in this incident and the focus should remain on honoring the memory of the victim."
