PHOTO PREVIEW: 'Supernatural' S7, Ep 3: "The Girl Next Door"

Call us a little bit masochistic but we kind of love it when Supernatural beats up the boys. Not when their faces are bloody or pummeled, mind you, but when they've been put through the ringer in other ways they just seem that much more rugged and handsome. Scars really are sexy, okay?

Wow. Now that you've learned a little too much about us, let's take a look at a photo preview for the third episode of the seventh season of Supernatural, Jensen Ackles' second-ever turn in the director's chair, "The Girl Next Door." In the episode, Dean is the one getting beat up yet again. In fact, he seems to have broken his leg and ends up in the hospital. We like that, too; remember in the second season premiere when he hovered between our world and the afterlife, wandering a different hospital in just a white tee shirt and drawstring pants? He looked good!

Anyway, in this particular episode, though, he is injured-- probably from when the Leviathans wearing Castiel (Misha Collins)'s meatsuit flung him into the brick wall. We told you he was "just a man" this season! With Dean being banged up-- and Ackles devoting his time behind-the-camera-- Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Bobby (Jim Beaver) have the heavy lifting of the case of the week to tackle.

Sam realizes the case he is investigating now is the same one that crossed his path as a teenager, and we will flash back to see Young Sam (Colin Ford) meeting a demon (guest star Jewel Staite). None of the photos The CW has released from the episodes show Ford or Staite, but we think you'll like the taste of the episode nonetheless!

Supernatural airs on Friday nights at 9pm, only on The CW.
