Dan Persa would pass for 280 yards, with a pair of touchdowns to Jeremy Ebert, as the Northwestern Wildcats would hold on for a 30-25 win over Central Michigan at Ryan Field. Jason Schmidt would add a pair of rushing touchdowns. The win puts the Wildcats at 4-0 on the season, heading into the Big Ten portion of play at Minnesota next Saturday.
Central Michigan (2-2, 1-1 MAC) would not make things easy though, putting together a furious rally in the fourth-quarter after trailing 30-13 at the start. Carl Volny would score a rushing touchdown at the 7:36 mark, and Ryan Radcliff (29-43, 2 touchdowns) would hit Kito Poblah at 1:11 remaining to bring the game back within reach.
The ensuing on-side kick would fail though, and Northwestern recovered, and ran out the clock. In all, the two teams combined for over 800 yards of offense on the day, but with five turnovers.
