Tires from artificial reef litter beach on Assateague Photo: NPS
Assateague Island National Seashore sustained serious damage from the unnamed storm (remains of Tropical Storm Ida) that hit the East Coast last week.
Today, the National Park Service (NPS) released photos of the seashore.
Sometimes, a picture really is worth a thousand words.
This is one of those times. The following slide show presents a look at the way Assateague Island was impacted by the storm, including beach erosion, boardwalk damage and the 1,500 tires that washed ashore after breaking loose from an artifical fishing reef off the coast of Ocean City.
