December 1961 President and Mrs. Kennedy, White House, Blue Room

Forty-six years ago today, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated at Dealy Plaza in Dallas, Texas. This date is indelibly inscribed in our national memory.
Compared to many of our presidents, he and his family spent such a short time in the White House, also known as the President's Park and cared for by the National Park Service.
It seems a fitting time to look back at some of their moments in the White House that were captured in photos. (Slide show available below AP video of November 22 in history or see the photos now.)

What wonderful photos! I love remembering him and his family.
Who from our generation doesn't remember exactly where they were the day we all found out that the President had been shot.
