Here’s a chance for Minnesota amateur photographers to gain some recognition while also helping to raise awareness about climate change.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is sponsoring a photo contest seeking images that demonstrate the results of climate change here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

MPCA judges will be looking are photos that show the effects of extreme weather in Minnesota settings. This might be views of drought or flooding -- but also more positive subjects, such as energy reduction scenes, human adaptation efforts to climate change, and other topics.

A statement on the MPCA website says:

“Climate change is a big issue so be creative! … let’s take notice of climate change and address how deeply humans have impacted our earth!

Photos must be submitted by Wednesday, June 23, 2014.

The payoff?

Ten winner will receive a Living Green reusable canvas tote bag and a Minnesota State Fair Blue Ribbon Bargain Book!

But there’s more.

Winners (and other winners) may also have their photos chosen to be displayed at Minnesota’s Changing Climate exhibit in the Eco Building at the 2014 Minnesota State Fair.

For complete details of all prizes, rules and guidelines for submitting photos, visit the MPCA website HERE. You will also find complete rules for the photo contest HERE.
