Photo competition: The first Olmstead Parks Conservancy Photography Contest

How many times have you visited one of the 18 Olmstead Parks in Louisville for a family outing, or to just get away from it all and enjoy the sights and sounds of the park? If you’ve ever taken photographs during those visits, you know first hand about the endless photo-possibilities, any time of the year. Well, now you have a chance to show Louisville your best shot by entering the very first Olmstead Parks Conservancy Photography Contest. The photography contest is open to all photographers, and there are NO ENTRY FEES. Winners will be published in the 2013 Olmstead Parks Conservancy calendar and note set.

Each photographer may enter up to five photographs taken in one or more of the following Olmstead parks and parkways:

Parks (18) - Algonquin Park, Baxter Square, Bingham Park, Boone Square, Central Park, Cherokee Park, Chickasaw Park, Churchill Park, Elliott Square, Iroquois Park, Seneca Park, Shawnee Park, Shelby Park, Stansbury Park, Tyler Park, Victory Park, Wayside Park, and Willow Park.

Parkways (6) - Algonquin Parkway, Northwestern Parkway, Cherokee Parkway, Southern Parkway, Eastern Parkway, and Southwestern Parkway.

The contest will consist of six categories:

  • Winter
  • Summer
  • Spring
  • Fall
  • Smaller Parks (under 100 acres)
  • Parkways

If selected, your photographs will help Olmstead Parks Conservancy promote the 18 parks and six parkways in the historic Frederick Law Olmstead Parks system.
