The growing popularity of electronic music is not a secret. From the pop mash-ups heard on the radio, to the influences in fashion and popular culture, this scene is slowing growing from its underground counter-culture to mainstream air-waves.
Hipsters, ravers, partiers, clubbers and music fans create Phoenix's small but enthusiastic electronic music scene.
Electro-hip hop, nu-disco lovers and indie-kid hipsters can be found in downtown Phoenix, at venues and bars such as The Lost Leaf and at various electronic music themed nights such as Cheap Thrills at Brick Pizzeria.
The East Valley is home to the downtown nightlife hot-spots of Scottsdale and Tempe.
Oldtown Scottsdale creates a place for local resident Dj's to showcase their talents, along with creating venues large enough to host the crowds that come in for big-name acts. Cream Stereo Lounge, Pussy Cat Lounge, Axis Radius and Myst have featured artists like Steve Aoki, Ferry Corsten, Dada Life, Kaskade, Benny Benassi. Oldtown creates a young club/ bar scene, which features mainly house, proggresive-house and electro music.
Tempe is the home to Arizona State University and many trendy bars, restaurants and music venues that showcase various types of music, including big names and locals that spin everything from trance and dubstep to electro. The Marquee Theatre is one of the Valley's most well-known music venues, located right in the heart of downtown Tempe, just on the tip of the Mill Avenue District.
