Laughter is the best medicine, start your new year off laughing out loud with one of the original Queens of comedy, Mo’Nique. Mo’Nique is coming to Phoenix and she is bringing her outrageous, tell it like it is style of comedy to the Wild Horse Pass Casino.
Mo’Nique started performing comedy on a dare from her brother Steve at an Open Mic night. Once Mo’Nique stepped on stage that was all she needed and she never looked back. Mo’Nique went on to gain popularity among her peers and with comedy show producers.
Mo’Nique was a feature on many standup comedy showcases including “Showtime at the Apollo” which she also hosted and “Russell Simmons Def. Comedy Jam”. It was only natural that television would come a calling and they did. Mo’Nique can still be seen in reruns on her hit television show “The Parkers” where she played Nicole “Nikki” Parker for five years.
Mo’Nique has worked with a number of fellow blockbuster comedic stars on the big screen including Martin Lawrence on the film “Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins” Kevin Hart in “Soul Plane” and Anthony Anderson in “Two Can Play That Game”.
Audiences were amazed and blown away by the performance Mo’Nique delivered as a serious dramatic actress in Lee Daniel’s movie “Precious”. The Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences took notice and Mo’Nique won her first Oscar for Best supporting actress for her role in the movie Presious.
Mo’Nique is an inspiration to women for her beauty, love of life, talents and determination proving that curvy girls are sexy and strong. Mo’Nique has lost over 80 pounds working hard to get healthy and set an example for her family. In May of this year Mo’Nique stopped by the radio studio Hot 97 to talk about her weight lost goals and where she is now.
