Who can forget the now famous words spoken by guest judge Neil Sedaka on American Idol’s season two about a performance by contestant Kimberley Locke? “You are ear-delicious,” said Sedaka, making this phrase his forever and perhaps scoring legions of new fans because of the exposure of the Idol appearance and subsequent buzz that was created by the fun reference.
Indeed he does seem to have had resurgence in his career since then, and it’s a welcome one indeed. The now 73 year-old icon has been touring and making new music to the delight of many generations of fans, new and old and Phoenix fans are no exception. The last time he was here in 2011, a second show was added to accommodate all the fans who wanted to see this legendary artist.
Sedaka has made an undeniable impression on the history of rock and roll during his career as a singer, songwriter and musician,;not only did he write, record and have many hits of his own, his prowess as a writer of hits for others is just as legendary, my favorite being “Love Will Keep Us Together,” by The Captain & Tennille.
His hits are many including his all-time worldwide number one’s; "Oh! Carol,” "Calendar Girl," "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do” (1962 version), “La Terza Luna," "Laughter in the Rain" (one of my personal favorites), “The Immigrant," "Bad Blood" (another favorite of mine) and “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" (1975 version).
Fans will delight to the sounds of this truly legendary performer, don’t miss this one!
The show begins at 8 p.m., doors open at 7
