Although I have been to more than 500 concerts, there are a few bands I have never seen, and Huey Lewis and the News is one of them, so I was excited to hear they were coming to town.
Practically a staple in top 40 radio in the ‘80s, Huey Lewis and The News has sold over 30 million records. Their 1983 album Sports is one of the best loved albums of the decade and included the hit songs “Heart and Soul,” “I Want a New Drug,” “The Heart of Rock & Roll” and “If This Is It.”
The band followed that success by scoring a number one hit with “The Power of Love” which was also featured in the movie Back to the Future. Their next album, Fore! earned the band three more number one hits including “Hip to Be Square”.
This should be a great show and I am looking forward to the opportunity to see this band! I can now take them off my list of bands I still want to see.
My short list of bands/artists I have never seen (that it’s still possible to see; i.e. Queen (with Freddie) tops my all-time list, but is not possible anymore.
- Journey WITH Steve Perry, as long as he is alive I’ll keep that dream alive. (So dumb I never saw them with SP)
- Styx with Dennis DeYoung (Again, just dumb I never saw the real-deal version)
- Bob Seger
- Dolly Parton
- Billy Joel
- Elton John
I know, these are some biggies! But that about does it…if Steve Perry ever does rejoin Journey even for one show, well, let’s just say I’d be a happy camper!
