Candlebox formed in Seattle in 1991. They originally named the band Uncle Duke and later changed it as a tribute to a song by Midnight Oil. The band viewed themselves as more of a rock ‘n roll band than a grunge band, but coming out of Seattle in the early 90s, well…

They sold more than 4 million copies of their self-titled debut which, after many months of gaining momentum, peaked at number 7 on Billboard’s album charts. Their follow up album, Lucy, was certified as platinum. The albums Happy Pills (1998) and Into The Sun (2008) followed.

Candlebox set themselves apart from the crowd and outsold their local peers with doses of hard rock and metal with a little power ballad thrown in for good measure named "Far Behind."

Other well known singles included “Change,” “You” and “Simple Lessons.”

The videos for “Far Behind” and “You” were in seemingly perpetual rotation on MTV and became two of the most requested videos of 1993.

Last year marked the band’s 20th anniversary of their four-time platinum debut album.

Candlebox released their 5th studio album, Love Stories & Other Musings in 2012 and they are currently working on a new album due out this spring.

Fun fact!
Candlebox was the first successful act on Madonna’s Maverick Records, which went on to sign Alanis Morissette, Deftones and Prodigy.

Known for their explosive live show, they’ve toured with a diverse array of bands including Living Colour, The Flaming Lips, Our Lady Peace, Rush, Henry Rollins and Metallica. They were also a featured band on the main-stage at Woodstock ’94. This acoustic show promises to be very cool.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show. Celebrity Theatre is located at 440 N. 32nd St., just four blocks south of the Loop 202 freeway, in Phoenix.
