Formed in Scotland in the early 70s, the Average White Band (AWB) received their big break as a supporting act for Eric Clapton in 1973. An interesting pairing, but then again this is an interesting band. I mean, I don’t think of funk and R&B greats coming out of Scotland – stereotype fully admitted to ….

The band would later move to Los Angeles and top the Billboard charts with their second self-titled studio album, AWB in 1974 that contained their biggest hit, the million-selling instrumental track "Pick Up the Pieces.”

More than 40 years later, the musicians remain one of the 15 most sampled bands of all time as TLC, Beastie Boys, Nas, Arrested Development and Ice Cube have all sampled their music.

Tickets for Average White Band are on sale now. Call (480) 850-7777 or visit for more information.

In addition to this great show, TSR is bringing a ton of great entertainment to the Valley over the next several months…
