Governor Jan Brewer got a huge thank you from the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce ( for her veto of Senate Bill 1062, the controversial bill that would have allowed businesses to refuse service based on religious preferences. The bill gained national attention and was rejected by some major gay rights groups.

Chamber CEO and President Todd Sanders and Chamber members met with Governor Brewer to object to the negative economic impact the bill would have had on Arizona businesses. “She said she would to the right thing for Arizona and we are pleased that she demonstrated that with her veto,” Sanders said.

Sanders stressed the Chamber will continue to work with elected officials to make sure individual liberties and the local economy are protected. “Above all we want to send the message that this great state is a welcoming place for all to live, visit and do business,” Sanders stated.

The Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce joined with the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Greater Phoenix Leadership, the Southern Arizona Leadership Council and many other businesses and business organizations to support the veto of SB 1062.
