The 26th annual Phoenix Chamber of Commerce (www.phoenixchamber.com) ATHENA Awards affair was held recently at the Arizona Biltmore with a deserving group of women taking home trophies and kudos from the business crowd.
The top prize, the 2013 Businesswoman of the Year Award went to Kathy Kolbe, founder and chairman of Kolbe Corporation in the private sector. The top prize in the public sector went to Kimber Lanning executive director of Local First Arizona. Christy Moore, executive director of Valley Leadership as named the Young Professional of the Year.
The ATHENA Awards, named after the Greek goddess of courage and wisdom, is a program of ATHENA International, a foundation dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for women.
Kolbe, Lanning and Moore were chosen from among eleven ATHENA finalists, selected from a large group of nominations.
“These women represent career achievement of the highest level and they have a genuine desire to lead and cultivate success in the next generation,” said Chamber President and CEO Todd Sanders. “It is an honor for the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce to continue the great tradition of ATHENA and highlight these women’s achievements”
