Philly areas roads still a mess after storm

A brutal winter storm dumped between two to seven inches of snow on the region today, Jan 3 2014. The actual amount varies considerable due to wind direction , topographical and geographical locations. People near large building may see less snow as the structures block some accumulation. The roads got the most.

While local and state crews worked to salt and plow snow , their efforts were too little , too late in certain areas. Even some areas such as Interstate 95 had accidents where people drove through snow patches and then found their vehicles skidding out of control and into barriers or other vehicles. One such wreck near Broad Street resulted in several lanes being blocked. Another crash near the Park and Ride in Bensalem only involved one vehicle that spun out.

Most of these crashes happen when drivers attempt to macho themselves around by driving way too fast , In Philadelphia, portions of the Roosevelt Blvd were covered in snow. By noon, the Blvd. was still bad. Snow would be cleared from one lane and the others were not usable by cars. Some main roads like Haldeman Ave remain covered in snow. It appears a plow did go down that road but that happened as the snow was still coming down.

The snow that is on these roads will freeze . A steady stream of road salt would help alleviate that problem. With temperatures expected to rise above freezing tomorrow, and vehicle traffic,is expected to help take care of that problem.
