Philosophy Professor says global warming 'deniers' should go to jail

If you don't believe humans cause global warming, and you argue against the global warming hoax, you are called a “climate change denier” and one Professor wants you to be put in jail. Breitbart News reproted yesterday that Rochester Institute of Technology assistant professor of philosophy Lawrence Torcello says climate scientists who do not preach the politically correct message about global warming should be tried for “criminal negligence.”

Torcello's comments appeared to be aimed primarily at scientists who have debunked global warming, he calls them “denialist” and accused them of misinforming the public deliberately and being “politically and financially motivated.”

Breitbart reports Torcella as writing:

Consider cases in which science communication is intentionally undermined for political and financial gain. Imagine if in L’Aquila, scientists themselves had made every effort to communicate the risks of living in an earthquake zone. Imagine that they even advocated for a scientifically informed but costly earthquake readiness plan.

If those with a financial or political interest in inaction had funded an organised campaign to discredit the consensus findings of seismology, and for that reason no preparations were made, then many of us would agree that the financiers of the denialist campaign were criminally responsible for the consequences of that campaign. I submit that this is just what is happening with the current, well documented funding of global warming denialism.

Torcello wrote the screed at an academic discussion site, funded by several UK governmental education agencies, called The Conversation. So Torcello is using taxpayer-funded resources to disseminate his global warming propaganda while criticizing others, who have debunked global warming, and have done so while receiving funding from private sources.

This is not the first time far left liberals have called for opposing points of view to be prohibited or even criminalized, especially in academia, where speech codes designed to censor politically incorrect viewpoints have been common for three decades.
