Philly Won't Be So Chilly Anymore!

Today was still cold as we started off with a low of just 10 at Philly International, but there was just a light west wind making it feel "warmer" than days past. This led to a high of 25 degrees under plenty of sunshine; granted we haven't been above freezing since Monday afternoon, but we're headed in the right direction! We go on a warming trend as this weekend we'll crack the 60 degree mark for a brief period of time(before falling). First things first; overnight we'll have a few clouds so that will prevent all of the "warm" air from today to fully escape back into the atmosphere. Lows will be around 20 rather than the single digits and with a calm wind it will feel right around 20 as well.

On Thursday we'll FINALLY get above freezing with highs in the middle and upper 30s with increasing clouds by the afternoon in advance of a disturbance; the disturbance will keep clouds around overnight Thursday, but precipitation holds off until the morning commute on Friday. Now temperatures will be hovering right around the freezing mark so we may see a few snowflakes before a quick changeover to sleet and then rain by noontime as high temperatures reach the lower and middle 40s.

The disturbance kicks out of here by the late afternoon on Friday and weak high pressure sets up for about 12 hours; Saturday will be mild with highs in the middle 50s, but a cold front will push through overnight into Sunday with heavy rain(and possibly a thunderstorm) as temperatures will rise overnight into the lower 60s(not a typo!) before falling by the afternoon once the cold front passes. As of right now we could see between 1.00"-1.25" of rain within 12-24 hours so there could be some ponding on roadways or places that normally flood. Behind that front you'd expect cold air to rush on through, right? WRONG! We stay in the 50s with sunshine on Monday, but then a chance of rain with another front Tuesday into Wednesday with highs ranging between the middle and upper 50s; now by the end of NEXT WEEKEND we could be talking about temperatures below average again(mind you the average high is about 40, 41 and the average low is 25, 26).
