Philip Seymour Hoffman dead: Heroin overdose, died with needle in arm

The New York Daily News is reporting today that actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead in his New York City apartment on Sunday from an apparent overdose. Seymour was 46-years old, according to the New York Times.

On Sunday morning Police were dispatched to the Manhattan apartment at 5 Bethune Street in West Village on Sunday after friends and family members were unable to make contact with the actor.

When police arrived, they found Philip Seymour Hoffman dead in his bathroom with a needle stuck in his arm, along with a package of what looked like heroin nearby.

The death will most likely be ruled an accidental overdose.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was best known for his role in the movie "Capote", "Hunger Games" and "The Talented Mr. Ripley."

The actor had problems with drug addiction in the past, a habit that he had kicked for many years, until he started using again recently.

Celebrities are taking to Twitter to give their condolences. Fans have gathered outside the Manhattan apartment with flowers and notes.
