Philip Seymour Hoffman readied himself for heroin binge, with 50 bags: Report

Philip Seymour Hoffman, who appears to have died of a drug overdose on Sunday, was found with a huge quantity of heroin, according to a Monday TMZ report. Law enforcement sources told the celebrity website that they found about 50 bags of heroin in Hoffman's New York City apartment.

Initially, the number of bags was put at ten, not a small number for one person, anyway. However, with the number now being set at five times that much, it would appear that Hoffman was ready to binge on the drug.

This makes a Fox News report about Hoffman possibly buying drugs from two men on Saturday night. That purchase was reportedly at an ATM, and investigators are reportedly trying to acquire surveillance video from the bank.

Hoffman was reportedly found in his bathroom in his underwear, with a needle sticking out of his left arm. The actor had struggled with dependency issues in the past, and most recently checked himself into a rehab facility for heroin back in May of 2013.
