It is official.

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed Union College defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere to an entry-level contract. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed but the team announced Gostisbehere will report to the Adirondack Phantoms for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old Gostisbehere is coming off of a big weekend in Philadelphia where he took home the 2014 National Championship and the Most Outstanding Player of the Frozen Four tournament. He scored a goal and dished out two assists with a Plus-7 rating in the 7-4 victory over the Minnesota Gophers to win the National Championship.

There were some questions about whether or not Gostisbehere would sign an entry-level contract with the Flyers or opt to return for his senior season and become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

The Flyers selected the 5’11”, 170 lbs. defenseman with the 78th overall pick (third round) the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
