Philadelphia Flyers recall Chris VandeVelde

There are new faces in the Flyers locker room.

Backup goaltender Cal Heeter has been with the Flyers the past few games thanks to an injury to goaltender Ray Emery.

Now you can add Chris VandeVelde to the mix.

The team has announced they have recalled VandeVelde from their AHL affiliate, Adirondack. He is expected to be available for tonight’s game against the New Jersey Devils at the Wells Fargo Center.

There are no roster limits now that the trade deadline has passed so VandeVelde’s call-up does not necessarily signal an injury or illness on the current roster.

The 26-year-old forward appeared in 17 games for the Flyers this season registering one assists. VandeVelde had 23 points (9 G, 14 A) in 39 games with the Adirondack Phantoms this season.
