The Philadelphia Flyers have a golden opportunity tonight. With the Calgary Flames’ dominant 1-0 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night, Philadelphia has a chance to punch its ticket to the playoffs with a win over the Panthers.

Philadelphia got back on the winning track on Sunday night against the Buffalo Sabres controlling most of the game en route to a 5-2 victory. Brayden Schenn scored his 19th and 20th goals of the season in the win.

“Obviously it’s nice to score and help the team out as much as you can and contribute,” Schenn said following the game. “But at the same time, at the end of the day, the wins are the most important. It’s nice to score two goals and get the win.”

All of the talk following the Sabres victory was on Zac Rinaldo and his hit on Sabres defenseman Chad Ruhwedel. The league ruled on Monday Rinaldo will not be able to rejoin the Flyers on the ice for the remainder of the regular season. The four-game suspension is the longest of his career, doubling the two-game suspension he received in 2012.

The Flyers are going to need to take advantage of some of the Panthers key injuries as Florida will be without Tomas Kopecky, Aleksander Barkov, Tom Gilbert and Alex Petrovic for tonight’s game.

The puck is slated to drop at 7:30 pm at the BB&T Center.
