Marc Hummel, proprietor of b minus designs, has created a line of hand-screened t-shirts and spoke cards inspired by those who transport themselves by bicycle on the streets of Philadelphia.
As one who regularly travels by bicycle on a route that frequently takes him across the Ben Franklin Bridge, Mr. Hummel has a distinctively local perspective on city cycling. It’s a perspective that’s reflected in the stylish and whimsical artwork that decorates his creations.
Yet, despite the lighthearted nature of the b-minus product line, Mark Hummel has a serious purpose: He’s committed to using his work to make cycling better for Philadelphians. He has donated 75% of the profits from b minus designs to the city’s leading bicycle charities: The Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, Neighborhood Bike Works and the Schuylkill River Trail. “It’s not a huge dollar figure, but as someone who travels by bicycle in and around the city of Philadelphia, I feel it’s important to contribute as much as I possibly can,” Mr. Hummel said.
