Phil Vassar, Jimmy Wayne headline weekend Atlanta country bar scene (UPDATE: Jimmy Wayne free!)

Phil Vassar and Jimmy Wayne top the agenda this weekend at Atlanta area country bars, nightclubs and honky tonks.

Vassar performs at Wild Bill’s in Duluth on Saturday (11/14). The Virginia has releases six CDs and 19 singles, including two Number One hits: “”In a Real Love” and “Just Another Day in Paradise”. He’s also written hits for other artists including Alan Jackson (“Right on the Money”) and Tim McGraw (“My Next Thirty Years”) Tickets start at $14.

Jimmy Wayne – who scored his first #1 hit with “Do You Believe Me Now” – appears at Cowboys in Kennesaw on Friday (11/13). Other hits from the North Carolina native’s first two CDs include “Sara Smile” and “I’ll Be That”. Tickets are free ages 21 and up; 18-20, tickets are $10.

Also this weekend you’ll find:

• Country artist Cain Hall at The Swallow at the Hollow in Roswell on Thursday (11/12), followed by Nashville singer/songwriter Todd Cerney, Casey Kelly and Leslie Ellis Friday and Saturday nights. Hall – formerly with the band Telluride – appears at 9 p.m.; tickets are $10. The Friday and Saturday shows begin at 10 p.m.; tickets are $15 for each show.

• “Talk Journey to Me,” a Journey/Foreigner/Guns ‘n Roses tribute band, at Ozone Bar & Grill in Covington Saturday night.

• Local bands and weekend fun at Wild West Bar and Grill in Holly Springs.
