The patriarch of the Robertson clan is breaking silence. On Sunday the star spoke for the first time after the backlash of part of his GQ interview leaked to the press. The words against homosexuals and other sinners created a fire storm and divided a nation.
According to E Robertson said, "I will not give or back off from my path." I love all men and women," said the 67-year-old Robertson family patriarch. "I am a lover of humanity, not a hater."
Robertson was suspended from A & E indefinitely after part of his GQ interview went public. A & E reportedly thought about pulling the plug on the whole show but were deluged by fan out cry as well as pleas from Politian’s including Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
Robertson allowed a reporter into his Sunday school class at White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ. During the 45 minute class Robertson said, I am just reading what was written over 2,000 years ago. Those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom. All I did was quote from the scriptures, but they just didn’t know it. Whether I said it, or they read it, what’s the difference? The sins are the same, humans haven’t changed. If you give them the bad news, they’ll start kicking and screaming. But you love them more than you fear them, so you tell them."
The church in support of Robertson wore Duck Dynasty hats and bandanas to Sunday service.
