Phil Robertson will return to "Duck Dynasty" in January but his future on the show is still unclear. On Dec. 21, Huffington Post reported that the new episodes of the show (that have already been filmed) are set to air in the new year and patriarch Phil Robertson will be in them, business as usual. As for what will happen moving forward, sources say that's still up in the air.
"The network also hopes the media and fan furor will cool down over the holidays and that tensions over shooting future episodes can then be resolved," Entertainment Weekly reports (via Huffington Post).
Phil Robertson could return to "Duck Dynasty" because of a petition signed by thousands of fans. A&E may also change their tune about "firing" him because the rest of the Robertson family has said that they will not film without him -- and that would be a major blow to the network. The show is the most watched reality television show in history and it has been a wildly huge success for A&E.
Most recently, TMZ reported that several networks would scoop up the show if A&E decides to drop it. It seems as though they responded to Robertson's anti-gay comments in an attempt to prove that they do not agree with the Robertson's views on the matter and that they don't condone any such talk -- but most people already knew that and didn't hold A&E responsible in the first place... and many want Phil back.
Will Phil Robertson return to "Duck Dynasty" on A&E or will the show be dropped? Only time will tell.
