Phil Robertson is a Lunatic

Duck Commander Phil Robertson is turning into another David Barton. Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution: “The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but NO RELIGIOUS TEST SHALL EVER BE REQUIRED AS A QUALIFICATION TO ANY OFFICE OR PUBLIC TRUST under the United States.” THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IS NOT, IN ANY SENSE, FOUNDED ON THE CHRISTIAN RELIGION (The Treaty of Tripoli, 1797 – Signed unanimously by Congress).

There is a U.S. Constitution and then there is the Republican Party Constitution which they make up as they go along. Rick Santorum said, "JFK’s 1960 speech made me want to throw up," referencing JFK's speech on the importance of maintaining the separation of church and state. Santorum also said he does not believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute. This sounds un-constitutional.

You have to love how the GOP applauds 'Christian monogamy' even as it re-elects adulterers like David Vitter and Mark Sanford while holding up multiple-marriage practitioners like Newt Gingrich and Rush Limbaugh as leading voices on the moral superiority of the GOP. Dinesh D'Souza and Ted Haggard are two other adulterers who were poster boys for the Christian Right. I guess when you're wallowing that deep in hypocrisy it becomes impossible to recognize what a joke your party has become.

When the state endorses any religion (i.e. Christianity) then it denigrates other religions (Judaism, American Indian paganism, Wicca, Buddhism, etc.) and non-belief. Republican Party politicians can't just come into a government building and espouse their religious beliefs because the government always remains neutral, placing no religion above any other, or at least it should not.

In a 2004 letter to Bill O'Reilly, the Anti-Defamation League stated, “American Jews are Americans. Jews and other religious minorities are part of America's great tradition of religious freedom. The discomfort with proselytizing, or the intrusion of Christian teachings in public schools, is a very legitimate concern."

Ironically, the Bible can be used against the GOP: The problem the GOP has is that in trying to be 'Godly' they end up being Pharisees, the people scorned by Jesus Christ. Jesus denounced their public displays (Matthew 27:21-26) and public prayers (Matthew 6:5-6); he ridiculed their morality laws (Numbers 31:17-18) and rules (Matthew 5:17-20). He made fools of their attempts to impose themselves and their rules on those who disobeyed, including the harlots (John 8:3-19). Instead he urged his followers to pray in private, to love their enemies, to give all they had to help the poor, and turn the other cheek. Alas, most non-religious people see no evidence of any of these 'good traits' in modern fundamentalism or evangelicals. The GOP are today's Pharisees!

The Bible warns humanity about the lunatics (Dominionists) who will use Christianity as a weapon (Matthew 7:15: Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves). Americans must watch out for false prophets/ferocious wolves like Ken Ham, Jack Chick, Kent Hovind, Pat Robertson, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Sarah Palin, Rousas J. Rushdoony, Herbert W. Armstrong, Zakir Naik, Grant R. Jeffrey, Jerry Falwell, Ray Comfort, Benny Hinn, David Barton, and Intelligent Design defenders.
