Phil Robertson Facebook: A&E boycott close to 1 million in fan support

It’s the Phil Robertson Facebook page that’s sweeping social media, as the “Duck Dynasty” star has now garnered over 920,000 fans who have “liked” a Facebook page that encourages people to boycott A&E.

A&E of course airs “Duck Dynasty” and pays Robertson a nice sum of money, but the two parties are not exactly on good terms as of now. Robertson has been suspended by A&E over his comments in a recent magazine article that many believe to not only vulgar, but anti-gay.

In the interview, Robertson was quoted as saying the following:

“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s ****. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

But Robertson doesn’t just have the support of his fans or even conservatives, but a key former politician, too.

Sarah Palin has jumped into the fray, utilizing Facebook to get out her message, as well. In a message that accompanied a photo of Palin and Robertson together, Palin illustrated her belief that everyone is entitled to free speech, and that Robertson shouldn’t be condemned for believing what he believes.

“Free speech is an endangered species,” writes Palin.

“Those “intolerants” hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us.”

Posted at approximately 7:30pm eastern, the page boasted about hitting over 900,000 likes, and made a goal to reach one million by the end of the night.
