Pharrell Williams on Grammy attention: ‘I don’t know how to feel about it’

Pharrell Williams had himself quite a night this past Sunday (Jan.26) during the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. Not only did multi-talented artist take home numerous awards, he made a fashion statement with a hat that has grabbed much attention. According to Access Hollywood on Jan. 28, Pharrell hasn’t had time to reflect on all the attention he has received between winning Grammys and that now famous hat.

As Pharrell joined many artists in taking part in the Beatles tribute concert on Jan. 27, he took time to talk about his Grammy night success and fashion statement. He told Access Hollywood:

“I don’t know how to feel about it. I’m just so busy being appreciative for being acknowledged by the Academy that like I haven’t really had a moment to just breathe and say, ‘OK, this is real,’ because this has just been such a shock…it’s humbling.”

Pharrell Williams and the duo Daft Punk took home Record of the Year for “Lucky” and Pharell himself took home the award for Producer of the Year. The accomplishments complimented his years of hard word and display of talent as a performer and as a producer. It is something he just needs time to take in, but the hat has taken on a life of its own.

Pharell explained that the hat was from British designer Vivienne Westwood, who will benefit most from the attention the hat has received. He just wore the hat, and wore it well. So the biggest surprise should come for the person responsible for its design.

“I don’t know. I think maybe Vivienne Westwood would be – maybe she would be shocked. I don’t know. It’s her hat. It’s a Vienne Westwood buffalo look.”
