The Real Housewives of Atlanta will be short a cast member for quite some time now that Apollo Nida, husband of leading lady Phaedra Parks has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to serve time in prison. Nida is being sentenced for his role in bank, mail and wire fraud and ID theft totally some $2.3 million, which affected over 50 people.

Nida who has previously served time prior to his marriage to Parks for racketeering, was sentenced to eight years in prison for his part in identification theft and money laundering. While he could have faced 30 years, Judge Charles Pannel noted that Nida, who pleaded guilty, was cooperating with authorities.

“Today’s sentencing exemplifies impartial justice regardless of economic class or perceived celebrity status,” said Reginald G. Moore, Special Agent in Charge of the United States Secret Service, Atlanta Field Office, in a press release.

Nida’s sentence should be an eye opener for other like-minded criminals who scheme to steal victims’ identities, defraud them and ignore the consequences of their actions,” The 35 year-old told the court that he was sorry again for his behavior , saying: “I want to apologize to the victims. I want to apologize to my family for letting them down.”

Nida’s attorney asked for him to be placed in a facility near Atlanta, especially for the sake of his two young children with Parks. Nida’s wife did not attend sentencing.

Nida is presently under bond. He is expected to be in prison within three to six weeks.

Gayla St. Julien, Nida’s partner in the crimes is already serving a five year sentence for her part.
