Husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks, Apollo Nida will face prison time. Nida plead guilty to conspiracy to commit mail, wire and bank fraud. The United States Justice Department released a statement on May 6.

There has been some speculation surrounding Nida’s future as news broke in recent months that Nida has scammed people out of millions of dollars. According to the Department of Justice, Nida was the head of a scheme that targeted 50 people and totaled over $2 million in losses.

Beginning in 2009 35-year-old Nida, with the help of others conspired to commit mail, wire, and bank fraud. There were also a slew of stolen checks acquired in the scheme, including checks from the pension fund of Delta Airlines, and U.S Treasury checks.

Nida and his team also filed fraudulent tax returns including making false claims against HUD. Nida stole the identity of victims in nearly a dozen states.

Nida and his team tactfully opened bank accounts in the victim’s names once their identities were stolen. One of the members of Nida’s “team”, Gayla St. Julien was arrested in the Fall of 2013. St. Julien named Nida as a co-conspirator which led to his initial arrest in recent months.

Nida served a 5 years sentence beginning in 2004 for racketeering and theft. Nida is facing up to 30 years in prison for his involvement in the scheme. Nida’s sentencing will commence in July.

Parks and Nida have been married since November of 2009 and have two small children together. Parks is an entertainment lawyer in Atlanta. Parks is known for her extravagant events, usually centered around her children.

Parks recently released a book detailing her life as a southern bell. Secrets of the Southern Belle: How to Be Nice, Work Hard, Look Pretty, Have Fun, and Never Have an Off Moment was released in November of 2013.
