PHA scandal gets sexy

For the remainder of my tenure as an Examiner, Carl Greene will hereby be referred to as "Sexual Chocolate".

The other day, we'd all thought the fact that the guy who ran the Projects in Philly couldn't keep his own house in order was scandalous enough.

This morning's piece in the Inquirer literally made me take a spit take with my morning beverage. (Which is "Mountain Dew", by the way - and if you have that with a cigarette, it's called "Mayor Nutter's Favorite Breakfast")

The top man in the `hood has now been accused of ("and I quote", thanks Michael Cole) "serial predatory sexual misconduct."

Sexual misconduct and invading the rights of others is, of course, no laughing matter. If Greene had done this to my lady, my foot would be so far up his rear end that he'd have to move my sneaker over in the morning to brush his teeth. The point is: it's laughable what kinds of people we have running (and ruining) this City.

Greed and misdeeds are often the spoonfed mindset that Liberals will tell you we Conservatives and Libertarians have. However, it seems like every time you open a newspaper in this City, another person appointed by Mayor Nutter or by Mayor Street or by Governor Rendell is in some type of hot water. Democrats. Liberals. Crooks. Scumbags. Unions. There are so many scandals going on in this town at once right now that one has a breakfast buffet to choose from as a writing topic in the morning.

Of course, you've gotta love the way that Greene's political allies now pretend they never heard about this. Come on, people. Greene reminds me of one of those friends you have that keeps getting into trouble and then something big time happens to them and you just shake your head and say to yourself that you "knew this would happen all along".

In this case, the plaintiff is a 29 year old PHA architect who filed a complaint against Greene last Spring. A letter was circulated to former Democrat Mayor John Street and current Democrat Governor Ed Rendell, who both deny knowing anything about anything. Ever.

Other complaints go back all the way to 2004. Some of them are just downright disgusting:

On April 12, Greene took Helm to a business meeting at the bar of the Prime Rib Restaurant, where he allegedly told her that a promotion was "contingent on a quid pro quo based on her succumbing to his unwanted sexual advances." The letter said that Greene even told Helm: "I know you don't want to kiss me," but then "grabbed her and forcibly did so."

If Ice T were here, he'd say that pimpin' ain't easy but it's necessary so Greene chases [women] like Tom chases Jerry.

People wonder why this writer is so acerbic toward handouts, welfare, and things like the Philadelphia Housing Authority. This is why. Every time Nutter wants to raise our taxes or give out more handouts, you know that people like Carl Greene are getting a kick-back. There is a terrible amount of corruption going on in this City, enough to say that we're Detroit Version 2.0.

Things like this and the DROP scandal and the DRPA and the city secretaries going away to the Caribbean on taxpayer dollars and all of the other things that have been going down for years in this City are going to be the things that kill Philadelphia. It's hard to point the finger and blame the opposition like the current President likes to do down in D.C. since there isn't opposition to blame here. The death of Philadelphia due to unsustainable blight, corruption and "welfare-chic" will be the fault of people like Carl Greene, Michael Nutter, John Street and even Ed Rendell.

It's just one of those things where you know you're going to Hell and so you're just trying to enjoy the ride to perdition. I'm just praying we find some diaries a la Bob Packwood in the 90's. At least the heat is off of Arlene Ackerman for a while.

Until then... someone get Greene a fur coat and a cane. Let's get it on.

This is too funny. I left Philly in 1979 and never looked back. They were having PHA scandals then, it never changes !

Oh, come on Aaron! As we learned in the 90's, "it depends on what the meaning of 'is' is, and, it's only about sex." Philadelphia is death by a thousand cuts, or by a million incompetencies, and it is eventually our fault. Those who say, it'll never change, you can't do anything, that's the way it is, etc. ENOUGH! If we don't stand together and work to vote these people out and begin anew, the taxpayers of Philadelphia, if there are any left, give silent consent to their own doom.

These "public servants" are laughing all the way to the bank, on the taxpayer's dime. Let's stand together an finally hold them accountable in the City and in the State House.
