The new PGA Tour Canada added a tournament to its 2013 lineup this week when the ATB Financial Classic presented by Telus was officially added to the roster of events.
PGA Tour Canada president Jeff Monday made the announcement at Country Hills Golf Club, which will be the host site of the tournament from June 17-23 on the Talon course.
"We are thrilled to continue the partnership with ATB Financial and Telus to bring professional golf to Calgary," said Monday. "We are confident that having this tournament on the PGA Tour Canada schedule will create a bigger impact in the Calgary community and be a marquee event on the tour."
The PGA Tour Canada, formerly Canadian Tour, plans to make the event a permanent tour stop, rotating among prominent golf courses in Calgary area.
Also announced was Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta will be the 2013 tournament’s charity.
"ATB Financial and Telus are pleased to partner to raise funds for this wonderful organization," said John Windwick, Vice-President, Community Initiatives with ATB Financial. "Habitat Southern Alberta helps low-income families build and buy decent, affordable homes. They not only help provide safe, affordable housing for families in need, but also help break the cycle of poverty in the community."
