DEXTER-- Peyton Watson recorded a hat trick to lead the Dexter Tigers field hockey team to a 3-1 victory over Orono on Monday afternoon.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead just 4:13 into the game, when Watson took a pass from Abbie Webber and put it past Red Riots goalie Jessica Miller.
Watson did not take long to give the Tigers a two goal lead. She scored an unassisted goal with 23:37 remaining in the first half.
Emily Tyrrell scored off a corner with 20:00 remaining in the first half for the Riots lone goal.
The Riots had chances to tie the score in the second half.
Goalie Kaitlyn Paquin made a key save and Marissa Mitchell stopped a shot when the Riots had an opportunity with the goal open.
Watson completed the scoring when she scored off a corner with 7:32 remaining.
Paquin and Kolby Kain combined to make three saves. Justice Mower had an assist for the Tigers.
Dexter (2-0) will travel to Hermon on Thursday.
Miller finished with six saves for the Red Riots.
Orono (1-1) will host Mattanawcook on Wednesday.
