Peyton Manning Penguin: 'Omaha' calls inspire Manning name for baby penguin

Peyton the penguin is here! Broncos QB Peyton Manning has been getting a lot of media attention for the past two weeks for his play calling and using the term "Omaha" for almost half of the plays the Denver Broncos have run so far in the 2014 playoffs.

It seems the city of Omaha is taking notice.

According to FOX Sports report on Jan. 21 Manning yelled out “Omaha” over 40 times in the team’s AFC Divisonal round win over the San Diego Chargers. After the game all people were talking about and trying to figure out was what "Omaha" meant.

The city of Omaha, Nebraska was so excited that five businesses in Omaha pledged to donate $500 to Manning’s charity for every “Omaha” he yelled at the line of scrimmage against the New England Patriots.

Manning came through again for his newly "adopted" city and raised over $24,000.

Now, the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha have joined in on the act by naming a baby rockhopper penguin chick after the quarterback.

Welcome to the world, Peyton the penguin!

“I think the whole world knows how much Nebraskans love football,” Omaha Zoo Director Dennis Pate said in a press release. “It’s fun to hear such a great quarterback chanting out our largest city’s name hundreds of times per game. We get a kick out of it and are happy for Peyton and his team.”

It looks like the Broncos have a new fan cheering for them in the Super Bowl.
