As The Debate Surrounding The Ground Zero Mosque Grows Stronger, Questions Over The True Religious Beliefs Of President Obama Continues To Confuse Americans
In a poll conducted by The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press between July 21 and August 5, the numbers indicated that there exists much more confusion in the minds of the American people as to the religious beliefs of President Obama.
The Polling Results
As the chart below indicates, the number of people who believe that President Obama is Christian dropped from 48% in March 2009 to 34% today. The number who believe that President Obama is Muslim rose from 11% in 2009 to 18% today, while those who are unsure rose from 34% to 43%.
As would be expected the size of increase varied both politically and racially, but in every sector of the polling results the basic facts were that by some number American's now question this President's religious affiliation more today that they did eighteen months ago.
The polling was done prior to the statements made by the President strongly favoring the Cordoba House mosque made at a dinner celebrating Ramadan being held at the White House.
