It is reported that more than 2,000 animal welfare organizations will be on-site at all PetSmart stores. Prospective pet adopters can meet available dogs and cats and talk with volunteers about the adoption process.

Jan Wilkins, executive director of PetSmart Charities, had this to say in the organization’s recent press release:

“If you are interested in adding a new furry companion to your family, you may be considering buying. But, homeless cats and dogs can be even more rewarding and a better choice,” said Jan Wilkins, executive director of Pet Smart Charities Inc. “Adopting a cat or dog is sure to bring you a lifetime of unconditional love.”

Sponsors of the adoption weekend include PetSmart, Inc., Purina, Pro Plan, and Tidy Cats/MAXX Scoop. Each partner will receive $35 in adoption-reward grants for every pet adopted during the event.
