Pets to be euthanized please adopt or foster!

Dogs eagerly waiting a new home!
Dogs eagerly waiting a new home!

The Jacksonville Humane Society and Animal Care and Protective Services are asking the community to step up and adopt or foster. Each shelter is at maximum capacity with over 1,000 animals looking for homes. If puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats are not adopted soon, the shelters will be forced to euthanize. The city of Jacksonville achieved a no-kill status in the first quarter of 2014. That could all change if something doesn't happen soon for the pets presently sitting in shelters seeking a new forever home. Action News first reported this plea to spread the word and help save lives.

Pet Adoption is the New Trend

Adopting a new friend is the hottest trend out there in the animal welfare world. If you’re looking for love and are having no luck with take a ride down to the local shelter and adopt a furry companion. The perks outweigh the commitment. Pets don’t talk back, they always want to play, cuddling is the best option every night, and all they require is some food, water, shelter, and unconditional love. To me that is a bargain for the low adoption fee of $20. All pets come fully vetted including spay/neuter.

Fostering Saves Lives

If you can open your home to a pet in need by fostering, you will help save a life. The next Mega Adoption event to occur at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds on July 18-20th, 2014 will adopt out many of the 1,000 pets looking for love. Fostering a pet right now until that Mega Adoption Event will be a lifesaving action. Fostering not only helps the pet waiting for a new home, it opens a spot for the pet still needing rescue. Be in action in your community by giving back and fostering a homeless pet today. The Jacksonville community is your city. Take responsibility for where you live to make it a better place. Everyone and everything will benefit.

Be the change you wish to see in the city. Get out and adopt, pass this story forward helping spread the word or open your home and foster a pet in need. Heck, you just might find your new best friend, wouldn’t that be a gift and a blessing!
