PETS, Inc.-The Carolinas Humane Society located in Columbia, South Carolina, let people know today that Pearl, a long-haired Dachshund with 4 puppies died last night and the search is on for a lactating dog to nurse the orphaned puppies.
Supporters of PETS, Inc.-The Carolinas Humane Society learned that at this time the puppies are being bottle fed.

Heartbreaking news from PETS, Inc. ... Pearl, the long-hair Dachshund died peacefully last night leaving four 2 day old puppies with little hope of survival unless we find a nursing dog to serve as their surrogate mom. They are being bottle-fed at this time but that will not be sufficient for long. They need a mommy dog. Please share this post with others who might know of a lactating dog in the Columbia, SC area.

The PETS Inc. Adoption Center is located at 300 Orchard Drive, West Columbia, SC 29171. The hours someone is available are from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. On Saturdays the hours are from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The PETS Inc. Adoption Center's hours for Sunday are from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.
To date, PETS Inc. has rescued more than 55,000 cats and dogs. Also to their credit-more than 60,000 pets have been spayed and neutered.
