The Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) will hold its 12th annual Pumpkin Patch during the month of October. Opening its shelter grounds to pumpkins, painted jack-o-lanterns and festive Halloween decorations, HSTB offers its supporters and pet lovers the opportunity to visit its pet shelter and buy pumpkins for the holidays. Prices range from $1 for small pumpkins to $20 for huge ones. All proceeds from the sales will benefit the pets in HSTB’s care.
HSTB, a nonprofit organization, is an animal shelter with limited admission. It only accepts adoptable animals that are not strays, but it maintains a transfer program with open admission shelters in order to find homes for homeless animals. Following a “No Kill for Space” program, it does not euthanize adoptable animals to make room for other animals entering the shelter. HSTB promotes spaying and neutering of cats and dogs and has opened a spay and neuter clinic to help curb the overpopulation of pets in the Tampa Bay area.
HSTB is located at 3607 N. Armenia Ave. in Tampa, Fla. The Pumpkin Patch will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays and between noon and 7 p.m. each Tuesday through Friday and will be closed on Mondays.
